Training a dog to behave and follow commands is fairly easy.  Training the handler to properly control their dog and become the “top dog” pack Alpha to your canine… not so much.  At Georgia K9 Training, we focus on teaching you how to become the Alpha pack leader you’ll need to be to get the most out of your dog’s abilities.

There are three phases to our obedience program: Consultation, Basic Obedience, and Advanced Obedience (or AKC CGC level training).

CONSULTATION – $25

We’ll spend up to an hour with you and your dog, talking about what you’re seeking to accomplish while assessing your dog’s personality.  We will develop a training plan together, and explain to you our approach to training your fur friend.

BASIC OBEDIENCE – $300 – $600

After developing a training plan together, we will determine the price based on the estimated number of hours it will take to do the basic training on your dog.  Basic training includes:

Heel
Sit
Stay
Down
Come

Most dogs take between 6 and 8 lessons to learn these basics when their handlers are working to help train the dog during non-class times.  Each lesson is between 30 and 60 minutes, with the average being 30 minutes based on the dog’s attention span.

As mentioned above, training the handler is sometimes harder than training the dog.  Once we teach a handler how to work with their dog and they grasp the concepts, the dog training becomes easy.

ADVANCED OBEDIENCE – $600 – $3000

We use the AKC’s guidelines for Canine Good Citizen, along with the CGC Advanced and CGC Urban training curriculums.  The pricing for the advanced training can vary depending on the dog and the handler, as well as what the final goal for both is determined to be.

If you are looking to eventually train your dog to be a therapy / service dog, then this program is definitely part of the training package you will want to consider.
